ArkJudy,
Barbados: We like the Southern Itinerary because we have a chance to visit Barbados and Antigua. Barbados is a beautiful port and the people are exceptionally warm and friendly. We like to shop in Pelican Village which is located by the pier where the ship docks. It has a large grouping of stores that stock a variety of interesting items.
Bridgetown: It has many boutiques and of special interest o many people, the 16th century St. Michaels Cathedral. The Mount Gay Rum Factory gives you a first hand look how Rum is distilled. Its a very interesting tour.
St. Maartens: Is both Dutch and French. You can shop n Philipsburg, along Front Street, or venture into the French side and shop at the West Indies Mall along the harbor at Marina Port la Royale, in Marigot. Most people that visit St. Maartens take the opportunity to visit the clothing optional Orient Beach. It is like many of the beaches of Europe. The south end of Orient Beach, is reserved for those who like to shed their clothes. The North end is for the more modest souls. There is a restaurant at the beach, where you can have a snack and a cool drink. Its an interesting place to visit.
Martinique:We have spent very little time on this Island. We went to a very nice beach, Plage de Calines. It has a mile and a half of pure white sand.
