Interesting move by Jamaica. They will start taxing all visitors on May 1st, 2005. Visitors arriving by cruise ship will be taxed $2 and those arriving by any other means will be taxed $10. It is unclear whether the cruise line will pay for those debarking, or the visitors themselves will have to pay individually.
We are cruising to Jamaica in January 2006. I think by then we will learn if this new tax is extracted from the tourists individually or from the cruise line/air line which conveys the tourist...

We hated it and the next time we stay on the ship, no drug-dealers, no other rare things offering to you, no tax to get more money from the "rich" tourists.
