St Thomas Question

If St Thomas is US Territory, why do they drive on the left side of the road like the British?

Is it because the Americans inherited the rules in place when they bought the Islands in 1917?

According to Wikipedia, the Danish actually owned St. Thomas. The US bought it in 1917 along with St. John and St. Croix for $12.5 millions (what a deal). I've not been to Denmark, so I don't know what side of the road they drive on. According to another website, the US used to drive on the left hand side, but later switched to the right in defiance of British rule. I guess the bottom line is, who knows? St. Thomas isn't British-so they shouldn't be drving on the left.
