Costa Maya!

I was really worried when I found out we were going to Costa Maya instead of Cozumel because I love Cozumel...but we just got back and Costa Maya was pretty cool. There was a nice little beach right close to the dock that was for anyone to sunbathe ( I dont know about swimming but some people were..it was kind of rocky) but there were nice shops...though more expensive than cozumel. If you do go there is a pool in the middle of town with a swim-up bar if you want to take the risk of swimming in who knows what kind of water, but it was very cool looking. Also, a must when you go is to visit Mamasita's and try the nachos with chicken!! The best I have ever had!!!!!

If people pay the $5 per person round trip taxi to Mahahual, then they will get a beautiful beach, very good and cheap food, inexpensive shopping, and more of an authentic Mexican atmosphere (not something developed by the cruise ships).

What kind of transportation did you get - a taxi? How do you arrange for a round trip and round trip fare? Is there snorkeling off the beach in Mahahual? Thanks!

Hi I'm also wondering about Mahahual. I was searching around about Mahahual and it seems like it's an area with lots of different beach and stuff. Should we just take a cab there and use the beach? is it all public beach? I saw this beach break ad for Mahahual, is that necessary or should we just get there ourself?
