I'm new to the cruise world and would like to know what a good shore excursion would be for antigua. We are sailing on rccl on the radiance in 2008. Any suggestions? Thanks

Hi Cruisinjan!! Welcome to Cruise Chat. It's been over two years since I have been to Antigua but, when I was there, I did the kayak adventure in North Sound Marine Park. It was almost a 30 minute drive from the port but it was worth it. From the kayaks, which anyone can operate, we saw stingrays and sea turtles. We, later, did some snorkeling before mounting our kayaks again. Some of the kayaks are built for two people, but, being alone, I opted for one of the smaller zip-in models. The instructor tried to teach a few of us to do an eskimo roll. (flipping the kayak over and coming back up while staying in the kayak) I must say that I provided everyone with a good bit of entertainment. I am upside down in the water thinking to myself, this is not one of your better moments, Robert. I start flailing about trying to exit the kayak and finally a couple of people flipped me over. Everyone was laughing so I really just wanted to flip back over and deal with the water instead. It was a lot of fun, regardless. Others, I am sure, will chime in with suggestions and stories to help you plan your own adventure. Once again, welcome to our site!!

Thanks drlivingston for the suggestion, however, we don't like to do the kayak thing. I would like to know the beach you were at though, that sounds like an interesting place to snorkel.

My choice would be to find a nice spot on the beach with an iced bucket of Wadadli's and laugh at people trying to drown themselves in Kayaks.

But I am a more sedentary creature and don't snorkel or kayak. Oh wait, I do Hammock, is that at all like kayaking?

Antigua has 365 beaches. You will have no problem finding a beautiful spot. You may also look into visiting the Stingray City Marine Park... It is a lot of fun as well.
Ken, if they turn full-contact hammocking into an Olympic sport, I will have more gold medals than Eric Heiden.

We did a catamaran sail/snorkel, but there were way too many jelly fish to enjoy it. Scott Taylor, one of the posters on this board, went to Pineapple Beach and enjoyed the day. Search for his posts, they're really good.
