great stirrup cay snorkeling

We are cruising the Spirit on April 1 to FL and the Bahamas. My husband had surgery last month and was told he could not snorkel from a boat. Is the Great Stirup Cay snorkelable from shore? How about the Anthol Island excursion? Is that from a boat or shore? There's not much he can do so I hope I hear some good news! Somebody help Me!

I'm sorry, but I just can't resist.....this sounds like something you might encounter in a gynecologists office (the Great Stirrup?). Shut up goin' cruisin', you're embarassing me!

The last time I was there, you could snorkel from the beach at Great Stirrup Cay. I've not done the Anthol Island tour, so I can't help you there. Best wishes and I hope y'all have a wonderful cruise! No better way to recover from surgery!!

No problem to experience great snorkelling from shore. Inside the grove there's an artificial reef which attracts many kinds of fish.

The Athol Island excursion is from Nassau...not to be confused with Great Stirup Cay..signed the ob/gyn
