I have just found out that the day we visit Grand Cayman there will be 7 other ships in port !! Could someone advise a nice beach that isn't likely to be heaving with people or am I asking for the impossible? Thanks Janet

7 mile Beach is the best, however with alot of ships it may be crowded. Most first timers to GC do the stingray city(its real cool) so maybe most of the others will do that and you can do the beach..

Depends on what you want. We went the Nativeway Rum Point and Sting Ray. You get best of both the Sting Rays and some beach time and with a small group also. Should be a fun day for all.

I hope you haven't left for your cruise yet. I have been doing a lot of research on Grand Cayman and my husband and I have decided to rent a car for about $85.00 to see the North side of the island. There is a beach called Rum Point. I have seen pictures and it looks heavenly. Also alot of reviews say it is less crowded than the popular Seven Mile Beach. You can get some cocktails and something to eat at Rum Point plus they have lounge chairs, beach volleyball and snorkel equiptment. Renting a car will give you a great look at the entire island. And since there is really only one main road, it is not easy to get lost. Have a great time on your cruise!

Thankyou Melliesun. It sounds like Rum Point is the ideal beach for us then. When you only have one day in each port it is so important to make the right choice isn't it. Hope you have a good cruise, we are off in just over a fortnight, can't wait! Janet.

If you decide to rent a car in GC, keep in mind that they do drive on the left side of the road. Also traffic is horrible close to the pier. We always rent a jeep in Cozumel, but I do not advise renting in Grand Cayman, the locals really drive kinda crazy and again they do drive on the left side of the road.

If I were to go back to grand cayman again I would head straight to seven mile beach by taxi and stay there. We booked excursion round island and to stingray observatory but whilst qeueing in total chaos ashore, we were told we dould not get into the observatory as it was too windy. Very disappointing. Don't bother going to Hell as it is a tourist rip off and the Turtle Farm is OK but nothing that special although kids will like holding the turtles.

Thankyou Carol and Christine for your replies. I must admit that driving whilst on holiday doesn't appeal, looks like we will take a chance on finding a relatively quiet spot on seven mile beach. Janet

pawlett, I cannot say enough about Stingray City tour. Loved, loved, loved it. G. Cayman is one of my favorite ports. Have fun!
