Can anyone tell me about the snorkeling in Cozumel? My DH and I are going to do the Clear Kayak and Beach Snorkel while there in December. I have been told that they make you wear a life vest. If you are wearing a life vest how can you go down any depth to really snorkel around the little fishes. I really enjoy snorkeling down below the surface. Do you have to wear the vest? Any comments would be helpful. Thank You
Sandy
The life vests that you wear while snorkeling are not like the ones in your stateroom. In my experience, the vests that have always been provided to me allow for underwater diving. They provide adequate buoyancy in an emergency but they are not restrictive.
Hi Sandy. I agree with dr. The life vests that are provided are not cumbersome, and, actually help alleviate some of the work of staying afloat. I like wearing the life vest. Makes my job easier.
I have been to the Caribbean only once and that was just this past January but I didn't do any excursions, just checked out each of the islands and did some shopping with my sister and a friend of mine. This time is with DH and we are doing excursions on each of the stops. This is also the Western Caribbean vs. the Eastern that I did in January. I CANNOT wait!!!
the life vests they give you are the inflatable kind. You can inflate or deflate them as much as you want. You'll have a blast. The biggest problem with snorkeling in Cozumel is that Wilma wiped out much of the coral reef. It's still fun, but not as much to see as before.
