Be careful about the EXPIRATION date of the food items you buy, such as rum cake or the Blue Mountain Coffee. A lot of stores in the civic center sell expired items. They get them cheap and put a price tag on top of the expiration date to cover it. So, if you are not careful, you will be a victom of this scam.

That is great advice and something I never thought about. Have you had personal experience with this?

Hi Tom,
I was on Carnival Conquest on it's May 14, 2006 sailing. At Montego Bay, I purchased several bags of coffee and rum cakes there. One store @ civic center (right next to the Jamaican bank) has excellent price. However, when I tried to verify the price, it was hidden under the price tag. When I remove the tag, the item was way over it's expiration date. I was able to purchase several bags of coffee when they bring them from the back. Hope this helps, Steve |
I didn't think un-brewed coffee could go bad after awhile, and thus would need an expiration date?

not just coffee, but rum cakes too
