how is the atlantis in nassau when it comes to cruise guests. is it like any other casino and all they care about is your money or are they more strict?
geegee,
The resort is open to anyone. If you are planning on gambling, shopping, eating and/or drinking, they will gladly take your money. However, the pools and other water activities (slides, lazy river, etc) are reserved strictly for hotel guests.

My wife and I thought Atlantis was well worth visiting. We spent over an hour there just looking around both inside and outside the facility. The aquarium is great. You can get a ride to Paradise Island on a water taxi for $3 each way and then walk the 1/2 mile to Atlantis.
The water taxi is a great way to get to Atlantis. We were disappointed in the RCL shore excursion which was supposed to include a guided boat trip to and from the resort. The "guide" had no public address system and you couldn't hear a word she said above the din of the diesel engines. There was a lot of construction around the resort and we had to take a long, circuitous route to get there. We decided to catch a taxi at the front of the hotel to head back to Nassau ($8). Our taxi driver was a very accomodating lady who gave us an interesting, informative personal tour of Nassau on the way back to the dock. We tipped her well for the best part of our visit to Nassau.

Be aware that it is $29.00 per person to gain entrance to the pools and acquariums. While you can explore the property, you cannot use any of the pools, slides or other water features.
Which begs the question, has anyone simply rented a room for the day to gain entracne to the water features (really cool) and what would it cost?
Mr. Tom, you must have been reading my mind. I was thinking about checking into that myself. Our cruise is September 4 and the first stop is Nassau, I would love for my children to be able to enjoy the water activities. I will be looking forward to some answers to the question and I would be willing to rent a room for the day if it would be reasonable. I hear that they could be as low as $280.00 and go up from there, but that would be lower than some shore excursions depending on the number of people with you.
The Atlantis tour guide said rooms start at $350 - but I am sure that deals are available. You could always rent the "Michael Jackson Suite" which bridges the two towers of the hotel...we understand that it starts around $20,000 per night, with a one week minimum stay. :-)

The Comfort Suites next door to Atlantis has full signing privileges. On my last trip to Nassau - we stayed there (for much less than the cost of a room at Atlantis) and used the pools, slides, etc. and could even charge meals/drinks to our room.
