I am planing my return flight - it seems that the best flight is leaving at 8.30 am from Fort Lauderdale. Considering security check and check in time - I have to be at theairport at 7.30 am. Is it possible to de-embarc the Liberty of the Seas at 7 am - do I have enough time to get to the airport?
I appreciate your support. Thanks

That is not even close to enough time. Your best bet is to book a flight at or after 12:00 Noon if possible. Cutting the time frame a little bit closer is possible with FLL being so close to the pier but I wouldn't do it. Even if you purchase travel insurance as a "just in case" protection, they would not cover you unless you follow the flight guidelines put out by the cruiseline. The further the port from pier or the larger the ship, the more time you'll need to plan for.

Liek Neil said- don't even consider it. Either find a later flight or consider staying overnight in Fort Lauderdale.

The Liberty of the Seas sails out of Miami not Ft Lauderdale. There is no way you will make an 8:30. Book something 12:00 or after.

The distance from the port of Miami to FLL is 24 miles and about a 30 minute drive once you are on the road. Customs at the port of Miami is not always fast, plus problems can happen like they did last year when we were leaving the Liberty. Customs had to shut down for technical problems for over 30 minutes. Nobody could leave.

Even assuming you did the self-debarkation, which if all goes perfect can start at 6:30am, you have the Customs checkpoint, getting out of the terminal, and then getting to your ride to contemplate. Now the hassle of getting out of the port in the rush of traffic. That will eat up enough time to make the choice of an 8:30am flight a bad idea.

FLL isn't as user-friendly as it used to be, according to my sister who leaves nearby. She now uses West Palm Beach for flights when at all possible. The lines can be long at TSA.

I dont think that is a good idea either, but also homeland security says you must be at check in AT LEAST 45 min before departure. dont think you will make it.

I'm with everyone else on this. You can't assume that you will dock on time, and disembarking is a lengthy process. Either find another flight or stay overnight if you have to. Personally if I'm checking bags I like to try to be at the airport at least 2 hours prior to departure because you never know how long the lines will be.

I say no too! Even if there was not a debarkation delay (which can happen) that would not work.
