experienced horseback rider

Hi
I am a experienced horseback rider going on the Ocho Rios Tour.com in Jamaica. I would like to know how the animals are being treated, I would feel awful thinking my money was helping encourage poor treatment. Also will I be board. I went on a horse tour in Puerto Rico and had a blast. I was able to ride out lone and it was the first time I rode a Passofeino, wonderful little gaited horse.

We did a ride in Ocho through Shoretrips.com. The subcontractor they used is Hooves (they have a website). No Passofeino! These are all rescued animals. Some have scars. Former racehorses, horses that were with people who didn't or couldn't care for them, etc. They were robustly healthy (2 years ago when we did this) Had properly cared for hooves. Obviously fed well, good coats, etc. And the big surprise to us: they seemed to love going into the water and actually swimming. If this is where you are going you will have fun--they did match people to animals (they took my small daughter off a horse and gave it to me as I was far more nervous--that gave the guides a hearty laugh) but am not sure about accommodation for "experienced riders", if this is using the same stable.

Who did you use in San Juan? I am always looking for rides--horses are my teen's passion. They are not mine, but in paradise a lot of things seem more fun!
