No problem finding these things from the dock. As you get off the dock you will see all the party boats lined up along the shore, just walk towards them. Yellow Bird puts on a good tour. Cabs and horse buggies are right there as well. For Bay Street, just 1/2 block in. If you go right, towards the British Colonial Hilton you will see the pirate musuem, big purple building I think. Straw market is just next to Hilton, next to slave museum, unless it has been rebuilt after a fire they had a few years back. Lots to see and do within a few easy blocks of the dock. Take a walk up the hill 3 blocks to government house, or go away from the Hilton and see the parlament buildings. Also, if you are in the market for gold, just past the Parlament Buildings is one of many Paradise Island outlets, they are like a small variety store. The one there is a clearing house for some of the gold jewlery of the big stores. My wife purchased some stuff @ 70% off, wonderful workmanship. You can take the local busses, jitneys, just call out bus stop when you want to get off. You are better to negotiate a price with the cab drivers instead of using the meter. If you are there late in the evening there can be trouble getting cabs. There are black market cabs that will get you back, bit dodgy, but we had to use because of a bad situation going down, had to get out at once (big drug bust going on, lots of army guys with guns). However, don't let me scare you, Nassau is a fun town, the people are nice, you are safe, just use common sense. Final note, I would advise not renting a car. They are expensived, you have to be comfortable driving on the left, and there is a lot of impared drivers out after dark.
