Cozumel - early August - Likely?

Hi,
My cruise was scheduled to stop at Cozumel first week of August (Explorer of the Seas, July 31). I'm assuming, it's probably unlikely now, due to Hurricane Emily. What would be a likely replacement? Would the entire itinerary likely be affected, or just this port? What does RCI do in cases like this? The scheduled itinerary was:
- Miami
- At sea
- Belize
- Cozumel
- Costa Maya
- Grand Cayman
- At sea
- Miami

I'd be dissapointed if we had 3 at sea days! But hey, that's what you get for travelling during hurricane season I suppose!

Based on that itinerary, the most likely scenario would be to just make it a sea day. However, since the cruise lines haven't even cancelled Cozumel for all ships later this week - I would wait for the island to assess the damage and determine how badly the infrastructure has been affected - you might be pleasantly surprised to see it remain on your itinerary. Truth be told, however, an extra sea day on the Explorer would be awesome!

I couldnt agree with you more Nancy...Sea days are my favorite. Chances are Cozumel will be open in August, since the cruise ships are one of their main sources of income, unless another storm passes through before the August sailing.

Here is an update regarding Cozumel. I was reading a post on another board from the owner of Nacchi Cocum (a popular Cozumel beach) and his report was that Cozumel faired much better than anticipated. Although there is a lot of damage around the island, they are moving quickly to clean-up and move forward. They expect Nacchi- Cocum to be up and running again in about 7-10 days.
