St. Maarten Itinerary

We are renting a jeep for our day in St. Maarten.
We'll be there from about 9-5pm.
We are thinking about checking out
Orient Beach
Marigot, Fort Louis
Maho Beach (to check out the planes)

Is there any particular times I should avoid places...I know the traffic can be busy there.

In Marigot I heard shops and things dont open up until 10am or so.

If it was you, in what order would you hit these spots?

This map might help. I'd probably do Marigot, Orient, Maho. Most shops will be open between 8:30-10. Traffic is always a hassle, but early morning and late afternoon are the worst.

I agree with Penny, she knows her stuff. St Maarten remains one of my fav spots after many stops there. Give yourself plenty of time to return the jeep, check to see if you have to gas it up, it is prob more expensive to pre-pay for gas, but sometimes the gas lines are bad. I have had a couple close calls.

St. Martin is fabulous! Marigot is really neat, so is Grand Case. We also rented a car and drove all over the island. Baie Lucas is amazingly beautiful - not really a beach, it's really rocky, but some amazing picture opportunities. We went to Baie Rouge to the beach, not many people and kind of a hidden beach. You will LOVE it. We were coming back in late afternoon and were really close making it onto the boat. We had like 15 min. to spare! Just leave in plenty of time to get back to the boat.
