Hi I will be going on a cruise the end of May on the Carnival Legend. Ports of Call will be Grand Caymen, Cozumel, Belize and Costa Maya. From reading the chats we will go to Sting Ray City in GC and cave tubing in Belize. Any suggestions on what to do in the other 2 ports. We are a family of 5, three teenagers 14,16 and 18. Thanks

hi cruiselover. Belize is an outstanding snorkeling destination. Goff's Caye is very nice for snorkeling. The reefs are quite beautiful. Belize is a poor port. They are still trying to get their feet on the ground. People are friendly and helpful. If shopping is your thing, you can find plenty of it on the pier once you are tendered in. You'll immediately notice Diamonds Int'l. located on the pier. We ventured a little further into their "downtown" area to get a feel for the real Belize and not the "touristy Belize". The Belize people will barter on goods with you. Once you arrive on the pier head to your left, over a small bridge and hook a left. It's a nice little walk. You will see some colorful locals offering photos with snakes, dogs running loose, school age children in their uniforms, etc. Belize has a Jamaican feel to it, only safer. It's quite unique. We've been there twice and would love to go back. Have fun. A'ndrea

cruiselover, I'm sorry. If I had taken the time to carefully read your post, it isn't Belize you needed info on.
Cozumel -- Chankanaab Park. Another great snorkeling location as well. Also great if you just want to enjoy the beach for the day. Music, food and beverage available here. Lounge chairs under palm trees. Showers, lockers. Very beautiful tropical plantscape. It's a short ride and a straight shot down the road from the pier. Good prices on souveniors in Cozumel, especially in their downtown area. We always purchase hammock chairs made by locals. Sterling silver, baskets, mexican blankets and pottery. We have been going to Cozumel since 1987 (our honeymoon) and it just keeps getting better and better. A'ndrea

Andrealovescruising, thanks for the info. We've been to Cozumel before but never Chankanaab Park. Had heard good things but didn't know how it was after the huricane in 2005(?) Have you been there recently or heard anything. Thanks again. Also, thnks for the Belize tips. Haven't been there before and will try to snorkel too

cruiselover55,
You will love the cave tubing and Stingray City. These are the best things to do if you have never done them before. I would not book either of these through the cruise ship. Being a family of 5 you can save a lot of money booking them yourself.
Go to www.grandcaymancruiseexcursions.com
Look at the Buccaneer Stingray City Excursion only $39. We did this and loved it. You can also book your cave tubing on this site for $60 per person. Have fun. http://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo...icon_smile.gif

Thanks 29dawgs. Are there any problems with not getting back to the ship in time. I don't think there would be but my husband is a worrier.

We did not have any problems with either excursion and got back with time to spare. Also the great thing was not as many people as if you book through the ship.
