Costa Maya Damaged by Hurricane Dean

I would love to do Progresso in place of Costa Maya for a few months. Never been there, but love Cozumel & Costa Maya.

Some of my favorite cruise memories are from the early 90's on the Ecstasy. It would go to Key West, Playa del Carmen, and Cozumel. What memories.

Kentishgirl is reporting that Costa Maya will be out of service for the next year or so.

We were supposed to go to Costa Maya in December on Legend. Hope we DON'T go to Progreso. I'll just stay on the ship if they do. Hard to say, but Costa Maya is 100 times better than Progreso!

Just got the official letter via email from Carnival for our 11/20 cruise on the Legend. Costa Maya is being replaced with Roatan on Legend cruises from 9/9/2007 through 4/26/08 except the 12/23 cruise. Costa Maya visit is just cancelled with no replacement port. All other port visits, including Belize, remain the same as of now.

I just got the letter by email and they said Cozumel for the Nov 24 cruise on the Liberty.

If Roatan, Hondurus is replacing Costa Maya, that is not to bad. The snorkeling in Roatan is great. Amazing fish. Sad about Costa Maya, we did an excursion there with these fantastic guys. We drove in a truck that they called an air condition vehicle. It was just all open with a canvas top. They had a great sense of humor. made the trip through really bad roads so much fun. The trouble with visiting these places. You meet very friendly people and then hope they make it through the hurricans.

Same thing for the Liberty Cruise 9-29....
I've been to Cozumel and enjoyed it. No complaints here. ;-)

GenCan, we had the beach excursion booked for Costa Maya, was thinking the same for Cozumel, do you recommend anything from your travels there?
