San Juan - Spending the night?

My daughter (16) and I will be spending the night in San Juan. I'm looking for a good safe hotel and the best way to get from the Air port to hotel and from hotel to ship? What is there to do in San Juan during my short stay, The ship does not leave until 10 p.m. - So I will have the whole day.

We stayed in the Condado Plaza Hotel/Casino and enjoyed it. There have been many posts on this site from other people for various hotels in San Juan. We really enjoyed Old San Juan. There is a tour of the botanical gardens that your daughter may enjoy. I liked the Bacardi factory tour, but I'm not sure if they allow children on that one. I guess the best way to get to the port would be by taxi. Hope this helps a little.

the Sheraton Old San Juan is right across from the cruise terminal. If you are going on a Princess cruise, you just walk right across the street. Old San Juan is very interesting to explore, even on your own, and you could find plenty to sightsee and shop for the day. Also, even though your cruise leaves late in the evening, it is always fun to board the ship early, and as you probably know, you are usually allowed on any time after 12:00 noon. If I remember correctly, the cab from the airport to that location is somewhere in the $20 range.
