Scooter Rentals in Nassau?

I am cruising on the Elation on May 3rd and our first stop is in Nassau. I keep hearing that the ship excursions in Nassau are pretty lame. I have decided I will just rent a scooter and explore for myself. I have been there before but that was a decade ago. If anyone has any info on where i can rent a scooter or have any other suggestions, It would be greatly appreciated

I would not recommend renting a scooter in Nassau. One of the reasons is they do drive on the left side of the road, traffic is extremely heavy around the port and downtown area. Even when riding in a taxi, it can get scary at times. Remember if you rent a scooter in another country you have to obey their traffic laws and the last thing you want is to get detained and see your ship leaving you. I would recommend getting off the ship and finding a taxi driver to give you a tour of the island. You can negotiate the price before ever getting in the taxi.

I rode motorcycles for over 30 years and even with that much experience I'd never rent a scooter in another country. Too many hazards and risks.

There are scooters for rent right by the pier but like everyone has said, BAD idea.
