I'm leaving March 7 on the Gem out of NYC to Port Canaveral, Grand Bahamas Island, Nassau and Great Stirrup Cay (and it can't come soon enough). Last cruise, I got a TON of great ideas from board regulars who suggested the best beaches and places to snorkel (thanks again to Sonny for the Coki Beach recommendation at St. Thomas!).
We typically strike out on our own instead of booking excursions and we have our own snorkel equipment, so any suggestions for great places to snorkel, hang out or take photos in these ports would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hi Cortney, can't say any of these ports are outstanding snorkeling, but they're not bad. Check out Lucaya in Freeport. In Nassau, grab a cab to the Atlantis, check that out, then go to Cabbage Beach which is a free beach adjacent to the Atlantis. Don't know how much time you'll have in Port Canaveral, but if they offer a tour to the Space Center, that might be interesting. Great Stirrup Cay has some decent snorkeling from shore next to the jetties. Hope you have a great cruise, try to stay warm while you're waiting!
In Nassau, the Queen's Staircase and Atlantis are about all that is left for pictures. I can't remember anything in Freeport that was a landmark or a point of interest. The space center is about it in the Cape, too. Cocoa Beach isn't that far from the port, it's a nice beach area if you don't go to the Space Center.
