Thanks Jim C,
I agree as well and guess I will wait until I get to the Grand Caymans.

Oh no, the Stingrays are not caged !! They are free to move and boy do they ! There is no shortage of Stingrays, we had food, and they know it. The guide was sure to let us know that once the food was gone, so would the Stingrays, and everyone was very respectful. no one tried to hog the food, and we had Stingrays all around us. My husband got what they call a "hickey" on his leg. The Stingray is looking for food and sucked on his leg. It is so fun !!

Hey there! I don't know if ya'll are still around talking about this or not... I'm planning our very first cruise, my boyfriend and I, and we're stopping in Grand Cayman. This looks like a wonderful excursion and something right up my alley... question: how long did the sail take? a few hours? This sounds wonderful but I would also like to try and hit 7 mile beach... i know you said they offered to drop you off, just wondering how much time was left after the sail? thanks!

We were back about 1pm, and as we drove by the beach they offered to drop anyone off. Depending on your time in Grand Cayman, it should work for you, the beach is wonderful too!

awesome, thank you!! I'm a sailor living in New Orleans. I get to sail a lot and have been all over the eastern caribbean on catamarans. But never on a cruise, and never to the west! SO as soon as i read this i got so excited! And it's even cheaper than the carnival excursions! Thank you very very much! I just emailed them for more info.

Since you were there so recently, can i ask you soemthing else? How close is everything to where you get dropped off from the tender from the cruise ship? Like specifically Margaritaville and shopping for souveniers? is that something that can be done right before we get back on the ship? Or is that something that takes a little more effort and time? Just wondering cos I promised my dad I'd go have a drink there and my bf needs to get his kids souveniers...

HI QOC. It seems you know alot about excursions. This is our 2nd cruise and this time we were thinking about doing the beginners Scuba in Cozumel but booking through either CozumelCruiseExcursions.com or Cozumel-Tours.com

Do you know if any one of these are good? Or can you recommend a company other than the cruise line to book shore excursions?

It really depends where you anchor. Usually it is right in town and Margaritaville is right there and PLENTY of souveniers. We happened to anchor away from town and they buses to get you to town. Have a great time! I know you will! The savings and a better experience all the way around.

Sorry I am not a Scuba gal, but one of my best friends is in Cozumel right now with her sons and they are there just to scuba, so I will ask her when she returns on Sunday.

I'm not queenofcruzin and was a little hesitant to answer your other post. I don't want to be a downer because diving is so fantastic. I just want you to be sure they are certified with PADI or NOWI (if it's still in existence). The reason I say this, you will be using rental equipment. You want to make sure your regulator works, your tanks are actually full, and that you have a dive master with you that knows what he is doing. If y'all are certified divers, it's not as big of a deal. You know what to do in case of equipment failure. If you are not certified, and your dive master doesn't know what he's doing, it could be big trouble. If you're sport diving and only down 20-30', you could most likely make it to the surface if something quit. But you would have to know not to panic. Open water diving is just that, you're in open water, not a pool. Like I said, I don't mean to dampen your enthusiasm because diving is fabulous. I am certified, but snorkel now since it's been so long since I went diving. I would recertify myself if I were to go down again. I do remember how to surface, take my regulator off and breathe from the tank, and most of what I learned, but would rather be safe than sorry.

Cozumel has some great snorkeling/diving. Xel-ha is one of my favorite places, however, it means a really long trek to get to/from there. We've done some snorkeling from the shore in a couple of places that was really good, too.

Have you tried snorkeling? It's really a lot of fun and not nearly as much to learn. If y'all do decide to dive, please make sure they are certified. I'd even ask to see their credentials.
