cave tubing in Belize

has anyone done the cave tubing in Belize. We are thinking about taking it, but we usually make our decisions on peoples reviews...Anyone have any thoughts on it.

Oh YES, it was an experience. We had a group of 22 and we set it up through http://www.explorebelizecaves.com/

Dennis Perez is the owner/operator and he really did and exceptional job taking care of our group. We had 3 guides, air conditioned bus, lunch and he also stocked the bus with the Belkin beer at cost, our people only had to pay $1.00/beer and he also had a cooler of soft drinks for us at $.50/drink. He supplied water for everyone at no additional cost.

I cannot tell you how great of an experience this was. Everyone needs to try the cave tubing at least once in their life.

Question about the cave tubing....is there a current that guides you along?

did you book your cave tubing tour over the internet or thru the boat. and did you get the lunch. I am abit afraid of eating food off of the boat...thanks

dbug, there is a current, and it depends on which tour you hook up with if you will be free floating out there or not. The currents can carry you towards the walls of the cave, the tour we were on they hooked us together in a human chain and a guide led us through the caves. One of our group decided to cut loose of the chain and do it on his own, the current caught him and slammed him against the wall, it took 2 of our guys to get him pulled loose.

We saw the tour from one of the cruise ships, all the people were free floating, and they were all over the place, in fact a few times our guides would stop to help them. Also with the cruise tour, they had 50 or so in the group with only one guide, wereas we had 22 people and 3 guides.

I set the tour up through the internet..sort of, I searched all the tour recommendations, then sent emails to about 5 different companies, we choose to go with Dennis due to his quick response, the group price he set up for us and the fact he was willing to work with our group as far as keeping our bus private for our group only, and having the drinks aboard.

Yes we ate the lunch...wonderful, its the Belize national meal...stewed chicken, rice, cole slaw and soft drinks. Great meal.

Remember these guys who do this for a living will go out of their way to make sure that you are taken care of and get you back to the ship on time...if they don't they know that they will not get referrals and their lively hood depends on the tourists. Plus their price is about half of what the cruiselines charge.

Dennis kept us on a tight time schedule and had us back to the port in plenty of time. He even guaranteed if we missed the ship, they had a small boat to catch up with the ship ... glad that didnt happen though.

Just returned from belize and cave-tubing.com met our expectations and then some. wonderful caring company with attention to detail.
