Hi,

I'm not a first time cruiser. But I've only been on one to the Western Caribbean. My sons and I are going to Eastern on Carnival Triumph. I'm interested in any advice, tips, ideas about onboard fun and also shore trips for San Juan (only there in the evening 5pm - midnight), St. Thomas, and St. Maarten. I'm traveling with a 14yo and 11yo boys.

Thanks!

I'm on the Royal Caribbean in June 2009 with a similar itinerary : San Juan, St.Thomas, Bermuda and St. Maarten. I know without a shadow of doubt that we're going to Trunk Bay in St. Thomas. I'm not sure about the other ports.

http://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo...icon_smile.gifHi WowTeacher!

I too am on the Triumph in March for Canadian march break, March 15th. Perhaps we are on the same one!

It looks like we can leave the boat and walk around right by the Port and there is lots to see and safe. There is a lights and sound show in the old port I read about.http://www.puertoricodaytrips.com/lights-and-shadows/ However it seems a little expensive.

And this walking tour..http://www.puertoricodaytrips.com/ol...-walking-tour/

There is a roll call for the Carnival sailing on the Carnival Connections site if you are interested in getting to know a few people before you go!

Happy New Year!

Danielle

Use your find key on this site to find Maho beach on St. Maarten. I think this would be a great stop with boys of that age. If you can't find pictures posted that way just google it and see what you think.

We went to trunk bay from St. Thomas. After 6 cruises with the kids they still rate that as the best day ever. We did this on our own, shared cab from the cruise terminal, to the ferry dock at Red Hook, and then cab on St. John to Trunk Bay. Transportation adds up but it was not more expensive than any shore tour to purchase and we headed to the ferry dock by 8 a.m. (as soon as we cleared customs) and didn't come back to the ship until about an hour before sailing. No "tours" to there gave us that much time. The cabs and ferry were all easy to use and self explanatory--no worries.
