info on belize please

We were in Belize in July/08 and had a great time. We chose to do the city tour and the Airboat Adventures - what a blast!!!! The city tour was a definite eye opener for us that take things for granted in our daily life..We saw the good side per se on the way out to the Airboat and the poverty side on the way back into the terminal.
If your looking for a awesome time take in the AirBoat Adventures - you might be able to catch some mantees eating and sunning themselves or a crocodile eating on a shore, The Ecological aspect was very interesting. The highlight was the 20 minute Airboat ride - 12 people on a flat bottom boat with a 450hp motor pushing speeds upwards of 70-80mph. These drivers can turn these machines on a dime and are very pro safety.
We found that the fenced in area servedus for our needs for souveniers and food. We book the excursions through Carnival.

We are cruising in the Fall of 2009 for an extended voyage and are looking forward to revisiting Belize. We have enjoyed its flavor several times in the past and, of late, have become very much interested in the Mayan ruins of Central America and the Yucatan Peninsula.

Belize is relatively a safe country but impoverished. In such an environment caution should be a rule of touring! As a former English Colony (Formerly British Honduras) it actually can be a wonderful adventure. I suggest you read up a bit about it before visiting-It will put Belize in a most interesting light!

We seldom book shore trips through the ship and have always been treated with the same priority for getting a tender based on having an excursion with a fixed beginning time as the people who booked through the ship. We just have our receipt ready to show and get off with ship's groups having similar starting times (be careful where you line up--some ships tours have their own transport directly from the ship to their venue--make sure you are getting on a tender and not their transportation).

thanks for info on being able to get off the ship fast when u don't book an excursion with
them, i know its easier when the ship is docked
i wasnt sure about the tender, we did ship excursion last time in belize and were given a
number when we cud get off.
