Only 28 days until we leave for Cozumel and I still haven't made a firm decision about which excursion to go on. I thought I would know by now. It's a toss up between the Fury Catamaran, Dune Buggy/Snorkel or Chankanaab Park on our own. Please give me your vote on which one. I want to leave room for a little shopping also. Thanks!

I have to go 100% with A'ndrea on this one. Don't get me wrong, the Fury is a lot of fun. (especially if you don't have children and you are not opposed to excessive amounts of alcoholic beverages and the results of those beverages on other passengers) I did the Fury once... It is really a typical "booze cruise" with a sail. Chankanaab Marine Park is simply a nice place to go for all ages. Good food, beverages (do not consume frozen beverages or beverages with ice cubes), snorkeling, swimming with dolphins, etc.etc... It's up to you and like A'ndrea has already stated, you will find people on this site who are ardent supporters of the Catamarans. Happy sailing!!
We did the Catamarin when we were there - I definitely wouldn't want small children to see some of the stuff going on - but even I did not want to see it .... the drinks flow and the sun is hot and _________ you fill in the blanks ... it was fun though...didn't have a lot of time for shopping after so if you really want to shop a lot, I'd pick something else. Personally, I'd just go shopping and stop for a nice lunch at Pancho's backyard with fish tacos and margaritas!
You could just rent a jeep or car, drive around the island, stop at Chankanaab yourself, explore, continue around the island and do shopping in town when you return. Cozumel is one of the safest ports and easy to get around on your own.
I leave in 39 days headed to Cozumel. Chanacanob has my vote. You can snorkel, swim with dolphins (at an extra price) there is food there, showers, and the beach is beautiful. I never miss it.
Xel-Ha is a god place as well. We've been to Cozumel more times than I can count & we always do something different every time. Fury was great fun. It didn't get out of hand although there was alcohol served. People just need to be responsible for themselves. Whatever you choose, be safe & have fun!
