My husband and I are going on a cruise November 2 to Cozumel on the Inspiration I have been reading and trying to keep up on the docks. How many ships can dock there now? I really don't like to tender. Only done it once and it was not a good thing.
Will let you know when I get back. (Going in 2 weeks). Tendering isn't a bad thing. Especially on the Inspiration (you don't have 3000 people trying to all get off the ship at once). And with as long as the ships had had do do the tendering in Cozumel now, they probably have it running pretty smoothly by now.
Yes, being tied to a pier makes coming and going much easier, but as long as the weather cooperates, its ok.

At this time, only 1 ship can dock at the International Pier. By the end of September, Punta Langosto is scheduled to accommodate 1 ship and by the end of October both piers hope to hold 2 ships at once. Puerto Maya is not scheduled to open until summer 2007.

You are into countdown for sure now. I am really looking forward to your review, as I will be getting close then. And will be interesting your comparisons to CCL.
We were in Cozumel in August - Only one ship a day was docking. Do any of the Carnival ships every dock there? I know that it was the Carnival's pier that took the hard hit.
cozumel dock conditions...i saw the other thread about this subject and rescued this thread from page 2....it has a link to my recent photos of the international pier where carnival triumph docked last month
- Punta Langosta pier is now able to accept to ships docked alongside. It was re-opened by Mexican President Vicente Fox last week - you can see a story on this Cozumel vacation site. That said, no ships are docking this week and according to a local newspaper story today Carnival are refusing to send ships there as the pier owners have increased the fee by 50 cents per passenger.
- SSA International Pier - was closed temporarily by authorities earlier in September, but is open now and can dock one ship and accept tenders.
- Puerta Maya - still closed for repairs.
Basically, there are more spaces to dock now but many ships will still tender. Whether you will dock or tender depends on how big your ship is and how many other ships are in port the same day.
