St. Thomas - Atlantis Submarine and St. John in one day?

Cruise ship is scheduled to arrive in St. Thoams at 7 am and depart at 5 pm. Is there enough time to do an Atlantis submarine tour, plus go over to St. John? If I decide that I must do the submarine tour, it seems as if I should just stay on St. Thomas, given uncertainty of ferry and cab travel to/from St. John? Any past experiences/suggestions?

It would depend on when the submarine tour happens. When I did it there was plenty of time left.
