SXM - St. Maarten Airport

Hi everyone,

One of the things I would love to do in St. Maarten when I visit in December via Adventure of the Seas is visit the airport/beach where the jets go directly overhead. I love the pics of this and want to see it with my own eyes.

How far is that from the cruiseport?

I probably pay more than I should, but the car ride from the cruise port to Maho Beach takes about 20+ or - minutes. I typically pay $25 including tip. I love going there. Best b.... oh never mind... it's a lot of fun.

Are the planes arriving frequently or is there a particular time of day that is better. I suppose I could check the Corsair and KLM schedules in particular to see when the big birds swoop past...

PS - My wife thinks I am a total geek for wanting to do this...

Lyle... I am too suffering from the same "geek"dom. Just let her hang on the fence along the roadway when a Boeing 747 is powering up and she will cease her story. Yes, it's crazy and yes, it's a little bizarre, but there is nothing like seeing one of these big birds coming into roost while you can literally throw a rock and hit it. Yes, I am weird but even geeks have to have their thrills.

Lyle, I don't think you're the only geek. Every picture I've ever seen and every time we've been there, there are plenty of other geeks along the beach with me.
