We used them in February and we were a party of 8 and got a 12 passenger van and a tour guide for the day for only $25.00 per person. You can do what you want and they will be with all the way. Would recommend this company.
Thank you all! Roatan did turn out to be an interesting port. We ended up doing the "Best of Roatan" tour. Since this was our first time at Roatan, we decided to check out the island.
We enjoyed the tour, but the description was a little deceiving. The picture that accompanied the description showed a boat in what appeared to be a setting where the boat was on a canal in a forested region. What actually happened was the boat just made a u-turn in a mangrove cove. It took all of 5 minutes.
Other than that, the boat tour was nice as was the rest of the tour.

We were there on the Triumph last March, and Carnival does not like to lose business. We left on our tour, and saw all the buses lined up on the road, and wondered about some who had to walk over half a mile.
I have heard great things about Victor and want to see the monkeys next time.
I just got my confirmation from Victor Bodden tours the other day and in it he said some sort of agreement had been made so that the taxi's can take you up the hill for $2pp.

I don't have anything against the tours offered through the cruise lines except that, for the most part, they are more expensive, and the number of cruisers on those are much, much larger then some of the private tours. The one thing, of course, is that with the cruise line tour, you are guaranteed to get back in time or the ship waits, and the cruise line only employes those that have been show to be very reputable...It does pay to do your homework on any tour you are going to book and ask the people on this web site for their input, it is very valuable.
STAY close to the ship....visit honurasnews.com for reports of all the crime there lately. I was just there last week on Norwegian and a couple rented scooters and were help up at gun point!!! NEVER GOING THERE AGAIN!!!
Cruisybreeze..What NCL ship were you on??? We were aboard the Norwegian Dawn in Roatan last week, took a private tour and were kept well informed by Our guide as to the problems in Roatan....We heard no news of any tourist problems whatsoever....please give us more details!! We found Roatan to be relatively safe!!
billybuzzy- I would take someone's viewpoint with a grain of salt when they have only post once and it's to report "serious crime" in Honduras on a very old post. We have been to Roatan several times and never have heard of or had any issues. Going to the island of Roatan is completely different than going to the mainland of Honduras.
I'm not going to claim the place is crime free but its not something you hear about a lot. I probably am just as likely (or maybe more likely) to be a victim of a crime in my home town.

We have been there only once, enjoyed our time there, and felt safe. However, we did have a guided tour all day but we did a lot of walking in and around several areas and never felt uncomfortable.
