St. Thomas Water Rationing Alert
Headed to St. Thomas anytime soon? If so you need to know that because of damage to the island desalination plant fresh water is being rationed. This means public restrooms have been closed, restaurants are having to use plastic utensils and paper plates, etc.

No word on when the repairs will be completed. Since this is a peak season for vacationers escaping the cold, it has been quite devastating to the local economy.

Hey Dave,

What is your News Source and link to it?

I "heard" the rationing was only for Cruise Ships bunking water. Thanks.

I am a news source as editor of Cruise Reviews and I do not need to post links if I choose not to do so.

If you do a web search you will find numerous articles about it.

I am now pleased to report that within the past 15 hours the water utility on St. Thomas has reliably pumped to all 5500 customers and thus the crisis appears resolved.

USA Today had an article about it within the last two days.

The downtown in St. Thomas isnít my favorite but it must be, or have been, a difficult place with limited water and few working restrooms.

Good to hear that things are backt o normal.

Thanks! I found a bunch of articles about it. I also spoke to someone on island today. They were having quite an unpleasant time down there. I'm glad they got it fixed.

I could get by without drinking the water quite handily but.....the restrooms would have created a far more serious crisis!!! Whew...I am truly happy for the residents and the visitors to St. Thomas!!! I believe I'll propose a toast to the St. Thomas Water Company!! Bottoms Up!!
