New Cayman Motor Museum

Those cruising to Grand Cayman and looking for something different to do may find the new Cayman Motor Museum of interest. The new museum has cars and bikes, featuring 80 automobiles dating back more than a century. They have Ferraris, Rolls Royce, and even the Batmobile from the 1960s TV series. Check it out here

Now I have a new reason to go ashore there!

Sonny V 05-12-2012 09:02 PM

Thanks for the info. I'm in tune with Dave about having another reason for going ashore.

Thanks for the info. We have a kind of "been there, done that" attitude with
Grand Cayman. We will be there in December, so it's nice to know there is a
new attraction. My husband will love it!

???

Travel to one of the best & cleanest islands in the Caribbean only to visit a Motor Museum?? Why?

Dave 06-10-2012 07:39 AM

We are not snorkeling or diving people and we've done enough Stingray City tours to last us, so all that leaves is a long beach, turtle farm, and tourist trap post office/souvenir shop with a rock formation behind it. Oh, I forgot the butterfly farm. Just isn't interesting anymore, but I am a car enthusiast so next time around I'll go ashore for the exhibit. At least that way they'll be getting some of my tourist dollars.

Another issue is tendering. I weigh the the hassle of tendering against having a nice quiet ship to relax on during the stop. A dock makes it easier to decide to go ashore and at least wander around. The Cayman government continues to use a Byzantine approach to dock construction. The present project still is wallowing in bureaucracy.

Nadine, I didn't know your hubby's birthday was that close to mine. It's a great excuse to take a cruise in December and get out of the cold:)

Nadine 06-19-2012 03:58 PM

You are so right! I asked him how he wanted to celebrate his 70th birthday and cruising was his first choice. I didn't give him any other options! Leaving from New Orleans will be new for us and we are looking forward to it.

Nadine, I hope you are able to go down at least a day early and enjoy the city.

Nadine 06-20-2012 02:38 PM

Yes, we are actually going two days early. We will travel one day and sightsee that evening and all the next day. Can't wait!
