Hi Maureen, we have spent a week in Mobay at the Wyndham Rose Hall Resort (now Hilton) and loved it in that area and have cruised in a couple of times. Is this a one day on a cruise? Dunns River Falls is always a blast, a river raft trip is fun, coffee plantation trip to the mountains, or one of the many snorkel or water activities...Caution, the island has some very aggressive sellers and you may be intimidated by the soldiers (police?) with automatic weapons. Best to stay off the less beaten paths and with groups or excursions. Have fun.
I use a ship's excursion in Jamaica for a lot of safety reasons. Last time I was on Mo-bay we did a river tubing adventure. It was March, and there was only a couple inches of water in the river. Not fun, and actually a little dangerous. I noted (later) that the private vendors did not offer this tour in March or April due to low water conditions, but the ship did. We did the White river tubing tour in Ocho previously and it was wonderful. Apparently conditions are somewhat different at Mo-bay. It was not good.

I wish we were docking in Ocho Rios rather than Montego Bay since it seems most of the excursions take you to Ocho Rios. Seems like there is more to do in OR too if you just wanted to walk around on your own. MB seems kinda dead.
Tried to edit my previous post, but couldn't. Did a little more research on Mo Bay and I might go on the Rose Hall Mansion Tour. Looks like there is a bit more to do in Mo Bay than I originally thought.
The Rose Hall tour was interesting. We did a ship's excursion, and went there and I want to say to a distillery, something like that. Mo Bay is a fun place, just be aware and don't go off on your own.
We're going on the Rose Hall Excursion. The house sounds interesting. The excursion takes you to the house and you go on a tour and afterwards takes you to a shopping center before back to the ship.
Are there nice beaches within walking distance of the port? We're in MoBay for 9 hours and the excursion is only about 3. I would like to go on the beach and water if possible.
I seem to recall Cornwall Beach (?) it's been a while since I've been there and really don't remember how close it was to the port. I think I remember it being decent snorkeling, though.
