I've never been to Jamaica..but it doesn't look good

I don't see where any cruise itineraries are affected by anything. Ocho Rios is about 50 miles away and Montego Bay 100. It seems to be contained in the Kingston area.

Thanks, Marsha. I sure hope this doesn't spread!

Kingston at its finest isn't really a great place. I mean, it's an interesting place, but nowhere you want to wander around by yourself. Now that there are shootouts in the streets and the locals are shooting police, I don't think I'd want to be there.

It is such a shame, such a beautiful island, so much potential.

We've stayed a week in Jamaica and never went to that side of the island as we had been told it was not safe and that was quite a few years ago. We stayed in Mobay and did not venture to far away.

I think Kingston has had an unsavory reputation since the days of old Port Royal and pirates.....I have been to Jamaica many times in the past 40 years and have never had the urge to visit Kingston!!

They reported on the news this morning that the believe the drug lord has escaped the island. They believe 14 people have died and that the unrest should be under control now. I guess only time will tell.

Now Reuters is reporting the death toll has risen to 73. Meanwhile the drug lord - who has the appropriate last name of "Coke" - still evades capture. 73 people die over the extradition of a drug kingpin.
