I read the prior post, but I just wanted to check again. I really don't want to do anything in Progresso that requires a 45 minute or a 2 hour bus ride because I really wasn't that impressed with Merida. I remember the dock is 5 miles out in the Gulf. It also seems to me the beaches in Progresso aren't that great and there isn't much to see there. Any other suggestions?

I was going to joke that the bus ride into town was a 45 minute trip..

There really isn't much you can do without taking a bus ride. There was a beach break thing there where they take you to an all inclusive for the day. It was good (I think we just asked the bus tour guy in town and didn't book it through the ship.. but its been a while).

We also just took the shuttle bus into town and walked down to the beach area... they are a couple of small restaurants there and there is some beach tables you can sit and relax at if you are willing to buy a couple of beers or some food. Its cheaper than drinking on the ship.

But without a long bus ride... not much to do there.

We really enjoyed the Dzibilchaltun ruins. It was about a 35-45 minute bus ride (air conditioned) and our tour guide talked the entire time, so it seemed like a short ride. We spent about 3 hours at the ruins and came back to the ship in time for lunch, and back off for shopping. We thought it was well worth the time and money.
