private tour operators

We are doing the Southern Caribbean on the CCL Victory -July 17/11. Just wondering if any fellow cruisers have ever used private tour operators for the following islands? Barbados,St. Lucia, St. Kitts. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Yes for all 3, but all for activities as well as touring. What are you looking to do?

Checking this out also,,,first I bought,or got from library a few guidebooks,,then I check out those suggested,also check out each towns tourism website for tours posted,,email each and ask for specific,prices, recommedations and check a few out...compare with a similar one offered by cruise,etc...
Remember,,,its up to you to get back on ship in time when taking private tour,or on own,,,will not wait for you like when on ships tour...mention this because have ALMOST missed the boat,literally, of a few occasions,,,but still prefer them....

One thing to keep in mind is that the cruise lines contract with tour operators that have met safety standards and ensure drivers are licensed. When booking through the cruise line they have a way of tracking the tours whereabouts.
