We are cruising the southern caribben in May with ports of St. Lucia, Barbados, Antigua, St. Thomas, and St. Maarten. We were looking for a good beach to schedule an excursion for. Just something really beautiful and relaxing. Suggestions?

They're all beautiful! St. Lucia-Pigeon Island, Barbados-have them drop you near Folkstone Underwater Park, anywhere along the shoreline there. Antigua-there are 365 beaches, take your pick. St. Thomas-take the water taxi to St. John and the cab to Trunk Bay. Trunk Bay is one of the top 10 beaches of the world. St. Maarten-Take the water taxi over from where the boat docks. Everyone goes to Orient Beach, but the beach near the dock is just as nice. For excitement you could go to Maho beach and watch the jets land on top of you. Have a wonderful cruise!

Is Trunk Bay a free beach?? Or do we have to book an excursion for it??

I think the admission was $2.50/pp, but you don't have to book an excursion. The ferry over is $6/pp, the cab ride to the ferry is $18/pp, the cab ride to Trunk Bay is $4.50/pp and then entrance fee. They do have some good excursions, too. However, if you do it on your own, you can spend as much or as little time as you like. Just remember to allow plenty of time to get back to the ship. If you're not booked on a ship's excursion, they won't wait.

According to my notes from last spring, the fee for Trunk Bay was $4 for adults (US Parks fee), 16 and under free. Also, if you're going there have an alternate plan for a beach on the other side of the island in case the winds are heavy, in which case they won't allow you to swim at Trunk Bay.

I'd vote for Trunk Bay as well. I went on a ship sponsored shore excursion so I have no idea what the charge would be. Antigua also had several nice beaches but we sailed past them so I don't have any names. I didn't see any on St. Lucia that I thought were better than Trunk Bay.
