Anyone out there do the Americas cup sailing adventure? Would welcome any feedback on other excursions done on St. M as well - thanks!

Denjoker, we did the Segways in St. Martin and it was a lot of fun. It was pricey but a unique experience for us that we enjoyed.

I wasn't there with a cruise but stayed in St. Martin for a week 2 yrs ago. We went on a tall ship called the Lord Sheffield that was fun. http://www.stmaarten-shoretrips.com/lordsheffield/

Other than that, I enjoyed the shopping off the port and the butterfly farm was nice. We toured a plantation but it was less than memorable.

Hey Denjoker,

Just a heads up, on our xmas cruise, the America Cup excursion was so popular, it was sold out before we arrived on the ship.

Also, the excursion to Orient Beach and Marigot was sold out. We took the water taxi from the ship to the town and the kids had a blast sea doing right beside the ship at that lovely little beach. And then we shopped however I found that you can get just as good deals at the outlet malls in Florida.

My daughter did it once. Loved it even though it was quite rugged. Got the shirt too. She is small, a dancer, and was easily tossed around on a small boat. If you know sailing it could be the time of you life. Try it, but also book on line if you can, it does sell out quickly

Denjoker, we did the America Cup racing yachts. It was a hoot! A bunch of tourists trying to man a sailing yacht. They make you work hard, if you really want to man the controls, but I was a cheerleader, so I had it easy. It was a great excursion.

Our recent visit, we did the Tiki Hut Snorkel, and that was fantastic. Great people, good snorkeling, really nice facility. You can book through the ship on RCI, Celebrity, and a couple others they mentioned, I think Carnival was one. Otherwise, you can book through them. They have a website snorkelstmaarten, in case you're interested in that. I believe we paid $69/pp. The best part was you could stay as long as you like or leave as early as you like. They'd even drop you off downtown for shopping for no extra charge.

Back in 2005, my husband and I did a shipwreck snorkel in St. Maarten through Princess. It was awesome. The guide pointed out tons of sea life and the fish were plentiful. I would definitely recommend it!

Now that I'm back - what a let down! - I did the Americas Cup and can tell you it's a great excursion - but some of you were right - it can be a lot of work. If you just want to relax, make sure you tell them you want an inactive job or be the bartender. I kept telling everyone we actually paid money to work! I was a 'grinder' - the 'winches' and us had the hardest jobs. The cruise was great - time to book the next!
