Famed St. Thomas Banana Daiquiri Spot Burns Down

Mountain Top, one of the most popular tourist attractions in St. Thomas, burned to the ground last week.

Firefighters battled the blaze for several hours but were unable to save the place from being totally destroyed.

Known as the home of the banana daiquiri, Mountain Top bartenders made millions of the cocktails over the years.

Oh well.

Dave is this the bar at the top of Paradise Point? I thought it was famous for the "Bushwacker".

The only place I can remember off the top of my head is the Caribbean Saloon in Red Hook. I'm sure there are others, though.

What a shame.

The Mountain Top was my favorite place to have a Banana Daiquiri (The Best) after a Bushwhacker at Paradise Point.

I was at Paradise Point in 2007. I thought their famous drink was a Bailey's Mudslide. They had a contest to see who would be served the one millionth Bailey's Mudslide. Maybe it was Bushwacker after all.

I never been to Mountain Top where they serve the Banana Daquiri. Maybe next time if they rebuild the place.
