cyclones, welcome ! AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME ! We did Stingray City in G. Cayman. Not sure of the exact excursion for Bahamas location. In Stingray City we were able to stand in approx. 3-4 ft. of shallow water. It is absolutely surreal the way the stingrays will approach when the boat anchors. They will swim through your legs. Some will even rub up against you. We had a chance to feed them. Our excursion guides lifted them up out of the water and gave us a backrub with them. I cannot say enough fantastic things about this excursion. Make sure to bring a waterproof camera (available @ Walgreens, Target, K-Mart) to get some great shots. I have a photo in our great room of our family holding one of the stingrays and it brings back such great memories whenever I pass by it. That is one excursion that I would never tire of. I cannot wait to go back. Have a wonderful cruise. A'ndrea
Hubby and I did the stingray excursion on Grand Cayman and are very glad we did. The water was choppy (not the calm, peaceful 3-foot photo!)
WORD OF CAUTION: if you are a little freaked out by the stingrays when you first get in the water...and the waves make you feel unstable, do NOT wade over to the buoy. Sure, it's stable--but all those stingrays head right for it, looking for fish bit. And we didn't have any.
Once I calmed down, put on the snorkle mask and floated, I loved it. Peaceful and beautiful..and the stingrays just swam gracefully underneath me. My husband held one in his arms and a month later is still beaming about it.
Johnson, Stingray City will not disappoint you. You doublechecked and made sure they are taking you to the sandbar, correct? It is one of the most memorable events we have done with our children. Have a great time. I wish it was me ! A'ndrea
P.S. Don't forget a waterproof camera. (I like Fiji's quality)
