I have heard different things about this port.... is it worth it to purchase the shore excursion to Castaway at Malfini Beach or is Labadee kind of a "private" island?
Labadee is more than "kind of a private island". It is not an island but rather a peninsula that is operated by RCI as a private resort. Locals are allowed on the property but only to sell their wares in specifically designated (and controlled) areas.
Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but what is a 'zipline'?
Thanx
Erika

Labadee is a great beach day; just to kick back and enjoy all types of water sports on this tiny spit of land. If I remember coorrectly, we were served a BBQ lunch and we roamed around for several hours enjoying the surroundings. Also, our ship looked great anchored there and we got some really nice photos.
On my first cruise, Labadee was the first port for Majesty of the Seas. All that was there then was the beach, the lunch area and the straw market. It was a neat place then and I'd like to visit again after all the new additions. I got some of the best handmande souvenirs there that I have ever run across anywhere.

We first visited Labadee when it was new - and yup, it sure was rustic when compared to today! It really is a nice property. We are looking forward to seeing it again this June.
