does anyone have suggestions where we could go snorkeling in Nassau & Grand Turk when our cruise ship docks?
hub and i prefer to find cool places instead of going with organized groups.
thanks.
I don't know about Nassau, but if you go to the official tourist website for Grand Turk, there is information on a couple of companies that do snorkle and dive trips. The company that did our sting ray/snorkle excursion was on of those on the web site. I now longer have the links, so I can't help you there - but they were an easy google search.
There is a public beach next to the Atlantis on Paradise Island (Nassau), not sure about the snorkeling there, but you could give it a try. The best bet is to ask one of the local cab drivers. We went on a sail/snorkel in Grand Turk through Costa that had great snorkeling. They stopped in 2 spots for about an hour each. I think it was $45/pp, it wasn't bad and the snorkeling was great. Hope this helps a little!
I snorkled with Stuarts Cove last year in Nassau. They picked me up at the pier. We went to 3 different locations and it was fun. Had the chance to get in the water with sharks! They were way below us and I jumped in long enough to look!
General observation - they frown on feeding the fish while diving/snorkeling in Cozumel but we fed the fish in Nassau. I felt like I was swimming through a lot of fish waste in Nassau and I wonder if feeding them so much caused that. It was a little gross.
