valuables while on excusions

I am debating on buying a waterproof container for our money,etc to use while on excursions. Generally how safe is it to leave this stuff in a 'locker'? We plan on doing the catamaran/snorkle in KeyWest and the ATV adventure in Calica. Should I be concerned with this? What do others do with their stuff while on the beach or during excursions?

We have left stuff in the lockers provided (you know where you insert .75 and the key comes out in your hand) in the past, but the past few years where ID has been more of an issue and we are carrying licenses and ship's passes we went to the waterproof case around the neck. very often one of us in onshore with the towels and such, but I admit we still sometimes bury the case in our T-shirts and hope for the best. Not really what you wanted to hear--unless you leave your belongings with one of your party you are taking a chance. We've had good luck, so far.

I have used lockers with no problem but I always keep my cash and ID with me. The waterproof containers are pretty cheap.
