Hi kj,

welcome to CC.

Everything you said about Labadee applies to all private islands - with the exception that Labadee is not an island but an isolated beach. Be assured that if there were sights "outside" Royal Caribbean's property, excursions would be offered. The sad fact is that Haiti is the poorest country in the Americas and has a long history of violence and civil unrest.

Of course Labadee and Grand Cayman cannot be compared. But then the cruise line had changed the itinerary for a very good reason. No cruise ships are allowed to visit Grand Cayman at this time, and you can be sure that as soon as local authorities allow cruise ships to return, the cruise lines will return.

Is there any news when the Grand Cayman will be letting tourists back to the island? My cruise leaves on the 30th of October. I know it is wishfull thinking but I still am hopeful they may change the itinerary back to the Grand Cayman.

Thanks
Kari

Hi, I just visited Labadee and it is in great shape. I couldn't believe all that Royal Caribbean has done to upgrade the area since my last visit. I took a good number of pictures and have updated the Labadee port review located at

http://www.caribbeanportreviews.com/Labadee.htm

Labadee offers much for everyone. Note that the shopping has become quite comprehensive at this point and there is much to buy.

Have a great visit to Labadee.
