We spent a great week in MoBay a few years ago and have stopped for the day at least on two cruises and have never had any encounters that were scarry. Although, the automatice weapons slung over the backs of the military is a little over the top. During our week at the Wyndham Rose Hall Resort we did have a couple of instances where the locals would literally pop up from almost out of no where (outside the resort perimiter) and ask if we wanted to buy jewlery or drugs. They did NOT cross the fence to continue the converstion and we just moved on with our walk. I can also say that I have been very uncomfortable on several occassions in downtown Philly and in parts of NYC ! Common sense should always prevail when you don't know the area.
Thanks for all the great perspective. I was really hoping a few bad experiences were getting blown way out of proportion. Just had some friends return from the Conquest trip 2 weeks ago and thier 10-yr old daughter declared the horseback riding excursion in Mo Bay her favorite part of the entire crusie.
I appreciate all the advice and can't wait to get there!
We went to Ocho Rios last week on RCL and never felt unsafe. We took the ship's excursions.
My 2 DD's 20 & 22 and I (don't ask) went to Shaw Park & Beach and Dunn's River Falls. Had a ball. My oldest DD 24 & her BF 25 went on the ATV excursion and had fun, no problems.
