We are cruising on the Liberty to Western Carribean on 10/27 stopping in Cozumel, Costa Rica and Panama. Talked to my son last nite and he said that Costa Rica and Panama are hot beds for Malaria and we should get vaccination or whatever before we go. Does anyone have any info on that? Thanks

I answered my own question via the health dept. we don't need anything b/c the mosquitos that transmit malaria are active at night and we will be gone by then.

I would still check with your Doctor. What happens if your tour bus breaks down, or for some reason you are stuck there longer than you plan? Better safe than sorry.

Taking the Malaria medication has it own nasty side effects ...if you use a good bug repellent with DEET, wear, long sleeves & long pants if you go into the jungle.
We did not see any bugs this year in the same areas.

malaria??
Here in Puerto Rico we have some kind of dengue,
actually
I suggest if you are visting the island Puerto Rico buy OFF before leaving USA,
as now we have a problem with "Dengue type 3" and some people have been affected by this so be prepared just in case, but that's rare, I don't remember any mosquitos just going out only during night better check that info I think that's not true...
