Hello, couple of law students on their first cruise who are looking for a very RELAXING trip (i.e., we just want to sit by the beach and NOT read legal cases).
We're living off loans, so we don't have a lot additional money to spend, so beaches that are closer to the ports (less taxi fare) is probably best, but we're willing to go the distance for a beautiful beach and good drinks! Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
Hi Lynnsoon. I am headed for Costa Maya as well. Check out the website below for tequila beach. This one has add on's depending on what you want to do. I am doing the "Captain's Pass" for $35.00 (booked online ahead of time). This gives me an all day use of the beach and facilities, a snack (light meal really), and best of all......Unlimited Drinks!!! I listed the website below. Hope this helps. Have a great cruise!!
Hi Lynnsoon and welcome to the board! We're also going on Holiday to Cozumel and Costa Maya leaving March 17!
The day at Tequila Beach that carlg described is probably the way we are heading also, except we usually always wait until we get to the port to make final decisions. Either way, make your day at the beach plans for Costa Maya.
Shopping, eating, and drinking is great at Cozumel. Be sure and visit Carlos and Charlies while you are there! In the past, we have rented a jeep to see the island. Nothing monumental, just fun to go off roading and find the remote areas.
I for one have the best times on the "days at sea!" Have a great cruise!

I debated about the jeep tour also. It sounded fun, both there and the dune buggy in Cozumel. In the end, it just seemed to make more sense to be near the water. I should add that I probably would have waited as well until I got to the beach, but we are going Easter week and there will be 9 of us. Maybe next time for me on the jeep. Tncruiser, have you done the dune buggys or jeep in Cozumel before?
The first time there, we did the jeep tour and enjoyed it. After realizing that anyone can go down those dirt paths in the jungle, we just rent a jeep and go on our own. The dune buggies would have to be a blast, but it is awful hot and dusty down there if you were riding for a long period of time. The jeeps were very reasonably priced and were available at every corner!

We haven't made any tour plans either. We'll probably just hit a beach in Costa Maya and wander around on Cozumel. Maybe do Paradise Beach in Coz. We can't do a lot of physical things since my wife is still recovering from her accident injuries.
She is going to have a great relax/recovery cruise! Although my wife hasn't been to either place, she is just like I am - happy to be on any ship, anywhere.
The best cruises I've been on were the ones with "on-the-spot" decisions being made about what to do. On this cruise, "nothing" could very well be the perfect answer!

The Holiday is a great ship for that type of cruise. It is one of the reasons I like this little 5-day itinerary so much - everything is so low-key and relaxing.
Thanks for the advice TN. That was my concern about the dune buggy's as well....too dusty. As I said, hard to be in the Caribbean and away from the water. I'm with you Dave, sometimes there is nothing wrong with doing nothing, another benefit of a cruise!
