Thanks for all of the quick replies. You guys are full of knowledge. Would you recommend booking through Carnival or on your own for Cozumel? The only problem with doing the dolphin encounter is that my son is 2 weeks away from being 8 and Carnival won't let me book it for him since you must be 8 to do it.

I know from experience that Carnival adheres to strict age guidelines. They will not bend even if his birthday is 2 weeks away. Therefore, you will have to go it on your own and not book it through Carnival.

It's very simple to get to Chankanaab. It's approximately 10-15 minutes from the pier. There are well-designated signs for the Park and it's virtually impossible to get lost going there. You can rent a car at the pier or you can taxi it there. Taxi's will come and go from Chankanaab all day. You will not have any problems getting back to the ship in time.

You can book the dolphin encounter through the internet and bypass carnival. The park has no lower age restrictions for the dolphin encounter. They just require that any child under 8 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
