Tim c, I think it is free for Platinum members. Jim and his family did this on their last cruise. I hope he'll see your post and can answer from first hand experience
Yes it was a Freebie for Platinum guests. But its only the galley tour not the entire behind the scenes tour. I agree Tim.. the should give us the whole tour or at least let us choose which part we want for free. Then you could take it one piece at a time on each cruise and eventually see the whole tour.
Yes, you had to reserve a time with the guest services desk.

several yrs ago we did a behind the scene galley tour on the holiday and I dont think we paid for it and we had just begun cruising. does anyone remember doing that.
Oh yes, as recently as last year the galley tour was offered for free. The larger ships stopped offering it because of the crowds, but the Fantasy class ships still offered it for free.
It used to be you could get the bridge tour and the galley tour fro free but thanks to 9/11.... no more...

Yes, I think we did it on the last sea day. And you are correct in that you can call the desk too. We were wondering by and decided to stop.
Also there is a note in the perks list that says you get $5 in arcade tokens too. But that is only if your are a Platinum level kid. We tried to get them for our daughters but they said "no" (our daughter are not VIP yet... 2 more cruises)

I do remember the days. We used to be able to go on the grand tour, engine room, laundry room, galley, bridge, it was great! I also remember having friends being able to board with you until it was time to sail. Then came 9/11, everything changed forever.
