We went on the 1st 8 day cruise from Ft. Lauderdale back in 11/2002 with our then 3 yr old. She loved Camp Carnival and we were impressed with the security procedures. There is an enclosed wading pool on the top deck which we found too windy to use. Don't get your kids excited about the waterslide, they are too small and won't be allowed to use it. Other than that my daughter had a wonderful time. She always remembers when she got her hair braided on the beach in St. Maarten. They treated her very nicely in the dining room remembering she like catsup/ketchup with everything and brought it out immediately. They served her very quickly (they didn't keep the pace with our dinners thank goodness she would have lost patience).
