Just my personal opinion I have found that Carnival prices has always been lower by me calling them directly. They tend to look up various discounts for you that TA's may not unless you ask or make them aware that some is going on.

It might depend on the TA. I always check around for a better deal, however i have yet to beat the price my TA gave me. Plus a mention before she shops all cruise lines.
